Free Nutrition Services and Programs Available to Customers and Local Community Organizations

JERSEY CITY, N.J., Jan. 16, 2015 – Inserra Supermarkets has announced the appointment of Lynette Hem-Lee, R.D. as the retail dietitian for ShopRite of Jersey City. In this capacity, Hem-Lee will expand the store's nutrition counseling and programming, providing customers of all ages with a wellness resource. ShopRite of Jersey City also will host a LiveRight calendar of events each month, featuring healthy food and meal preparation tips.

"Lynette is the perfect person for this role. She has more than 18 years of experience in various aspects of food services and nutrition as well as an impressive education in this discipline," said Lindsey Inserra, vice president of health and wellness. "Just as important, Lynette is passionate about her commitment to helping others make healthy choices, and will be a valuable resource to our customers in Jersey City."

Most recently, Hem-Lee served as the diet clerk of the Food & Nutrition Department of Englewood Hospital & Medical Center. A resident of Cliffside Park, Hem-Lee graduated cum laude from Montclair State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in food and nutrition sciences with a concentration in dietetics and completed a dietetic internship at Montclair as well.

Hem-Lee is ServSafe certified and an active member of numerous organizations, including the American Dietetic Association, American Diabetes Association, and the Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. A dedicated community volunteer, Hem-Lee spearheaded a wellness team at School #4 in Cliffside Park, which implemented a "Walk to School" initiative and made healthier meal selections available for students at breakfast and lunch.

"In Jersey City, the Mayor's Office announced its goal of further emphasizing the health and wellness of residents, and at ShopRite of Jersey City, we are very pleased to support that goal," added Hem-Lee. "I have seen first-hand the importance of nutrition in one's development – from the earliest of ages – and also in treating chronic conditions and other illnesses. I am thrilled to be able to share my knowledge with customers and aid them in making sound food choices and in prioritizing health."

Each month, dietitians at Inserra's ShopRite supermarkets located throughout New Jersey and New York State host a series of free events. In addition to small group and one-on-one counseling, the stores host healthy cooking classes, recipe demonstrations, and pantry makeover seminars. Inserra Supermarkets is widely acknowledged as a good corporate citizen dedicated to making life better for local residents, and supports numerous non-profits, including Community Food Bank of New Jersey and Table to Table.

ShopRite of Jersey City is located at Luis Marin Blvd. & 6th St. For more information about upcoming programs or to partner with ShopRite for a community event, please contact Hem-Lee at 201-819-5349 or lynette.hem-lee@wakefern.com.
