LYNDHURST, N.J., Aug. 27, 2015 – ShopRite of Lyndhurst, an Inserra Supermarkets store, is hosting a full roster of free health and wellness events throughout September, which is Cholesterol Education Month. Julie Harrington, R.D., in-store registered dietitian, will lead each of the LiveRight offerings and provide easy-to-implement nutrition and wellness advice. All programs are open to the public, held at ShopRite of Lyndhurst and do not require advance registration, unless otherwise noted:

Tues., Sept. 1 – Product Spotlight: DeCanto’s Best Veggie Burgers, 1 – 3 p.m. Drop by the Dietitian’s Corner to try DeCanto’s Best Veggie Burgers – a quick, heart-healthy lunch or dinner option to add to your weekly meal planning.

Wed., Sept. 2 – Dip it Good, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. With football season approaching, there is no better time to learn how to dip it good. Drop by the Dietitian’s Corner for samples of a better-for-you dip that’s perfect for game day when paired with heart-healthy Mary’s Gone Crackers.

Thurs., Sept. 3, 10, 17 & 24 – Julie’s Walking Club, 8 a.m. Looking for a simple way to exercise? Join this weekly walking club, hosted by ShopRite’s dietitian, for a one-mile trek throughout the store. The starting line is the Dietitian’s Corner. Membership cards and prizes are awarded to all participants.

Sat., Sept. 12 – Free Cholesterol and Vein Screenings, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Knowing your numbers is a great step toward preventing and controlling heart disease. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner for a free cholesterol screening as well as a free vein screening by the Center for Vein Restoration. Also, try tasty samples of the heart-healthy grain freekeh by Freekehlicious.

Sun., Sept. 13 – LiveRight with ShopRite Kids’ Day: Special Partners in Caring Field Day, 12 – 2 p.m. Location is TBD; please see store for details. ShopRite’s registered dietitian and the ShopRite team will host a Kids’ Field Day filled with fun games and activities to support the ShopRite Partners in Caring community-based, hunger-fighting initiative. A $5 dollar donation is suggested.

Mon., Sept. 21 – Produce Pick, 1 – 3 p.m. ShopRite of Lyndhurst’s in-store dietitian will be mixing this week’s produce pick into a delicious dish. Drop by for samples and recipe cards.

Tues., Sept. 22 & 29 – New Outside Walking Club at the Lyndhurst Park, 9 a.m. Weather permitting. Enjoy the beautiful weather and get in shape by joining ShopRite’s registered dietitian for a 30-minute walk around Lyndhurst Park, which is located at the corner of Delafield and Valley Brook road by the Lyndhurst Police Department. The group will meet by the white gazebo.

Tues., Sept. 22 – LiveRight with ShopRite Cooking Class: Heart Healthy Cooking, 1:30 p.m. Space is limited, and pre-registration at Customer Service is required. A $5 deposit will secure the reservation and will be returned in the form of a $5 ShopRite gift card after class. Join ShopRite’s registered dietitian for this hands-on class focused on creating heart-healthy meals.

Wed., Sept. 23 – In the Aisles with Julie, 1 – 2 p.m. Join Julie Harrington, ShopRite’s registered dietitian, for a grocery store tour aimed at highlighting new and better-for-you items throughout the aisles of ShopRite.

Thurs., Sept. 24 – Go Nuts for Heart Health, 12 – 2 p.m. Drop by the Dietitian’s Corner to learn how walnuts can play a key role in heart health and try samples too.

Fri., Sept. 25 – LiveRight with ShopRite Cooking Class: Balanced Breakfast, 5:30 p.m. Space is limited, and pre-registration at Customer Service is required. A $5 deposit will secure the reservation and will be returned in the form of a $5 ShopRite gift card after class. Join ShopRite’s registered dietitian for this hands-on class focused on creating a balanced breakfast.

Mon., Sept. 28 – LiveRight with ShopRite Cooking Class: Take-Out Makeover, 5:30 p.m. Space is limited, and pre-registration at Customer Service is required. A $5 deposit will secure the reservation and will be returned in the form of a $5 ShopRite gift card after class. Join ShopRite’s registered dietitian for this hands-on class focused on a take-out makeover.
