WOODLAND PARK, N.J. – July 23, 2013 – The Sax Macy Fromm (SMF) Foundation will sponsor its second annual “The 4 Miler at Garret Mountain” on Saturday, Sept. 7. Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to participate in this fund-raising event to benefit the Child Life Department at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.

This year’s race event once again takes place at Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park, N.J., and will feature a 4-mile run on a USA Track and Field (USATF) certified race course, as well as a 1.5-mile trail walk and kids’ dashes. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. on race day, followed by the 4-mile run at 9 a.m., a trail walk at 9:10 a.m. and kids’ dashes at 10:15 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for overall male and female winners, as well as to winners in the 4 Miler age groups.

Pre-registration for participants through Sept. 2 is $23 ($20 for USATF members). After Sept. 2 and on race day, registration is $25. To register for the event, which will be held rain or shine, visit The day’s highlights include DJ entertainment, prizes, kids’ activities, and refreshments. Tech t-shirts will be given to all participants while supplies last.

Once again, the SMF Foundation is absorbing all expenses associated with the event in order to donate 100 percent of the proceeds directly to the Child Life Department at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. Last year’s event raised $43,000 for the hospital’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology department.
