Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club To Present Second Annual Fashion Show
May 21 Fundraiser to Benefit Rotary's Gift of Life, Other Local Charities

PARAMUS, N.J., March 9, 2010 - The Paramus Sunrise Rotary club, a division of Rotary International, will host a fund-raising fashion show and dinner event on Friday, May 21, at 7 p.m. The affair will be held at the IBEW Local 164 training center at 65 W. Century Road in Paramus, N.J. All proceeds will benefit Rotary's Gift of Life International program and other local charities.

Tickets are $40 per person, which includes a buffet dinner and entertainment, and can be purchased in advance from a Paramus Sunrise member or at the door on the night of the event. The event will also feature numerous tricky tray items.

Since its inception, the Paramus Sunrise Rotary has made charitable contributions to such organizations as Gift of Life, Theo's Work, Children's Aid and Family Services, Freedom Walk Kids of America, Turn a Frown Around Foundation, Pony Power, the Rotary Paul Harris Foundation and Tomorrows Children's Fund. The success of last year's event raised $10,000 for Rotary's Gift of Life Foundation, which enabled a young Jamaican girl named Lacy Ann the opportunity to come to the U.S. for life-saving heart surgery.

"Having Lacy Ann come to the U.S. for her required surgery was an amazing opportunity for her and for our club," noted Mukesh Malkan, president of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary club. "While she was with us, she got to visit popular tourist attractions like Times Square and bonded with our members. We continue to keep in touch with her to see how she's doing." The club's goal is to sponsor another child to receive vital, life-saving medical care.

Like last year, the fashion show will be supported by IBEW Local 164, which is donating the use of its member hall and the dinner portion of the event. The Local initially provided the "seed" money for the inception of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary as well as its facilities for the weekly meetings held Tuesday mornings at 8 a.m.

Paramus Sunrise members are actively looking for tricky tray items from local businesses. Various sponsorship opportunities are also available, including table sponsors and advertisements in the event program.
