Community Organizations Support Event Fostering Education and Fun

ABERDEEN, Md., Dec. 19, 2016 – A recent social festival hosted by the management and staff of the Perrywood Gardens apartment community in Aberdeen drew a strong turnout and high praise from attendees. Perrywood Gardens residents – both young and old – enjoyed games, programs and refreshments sponsored by local charities, community service groups and businesses.

The resident-focused event – the first of its kind – drew more than 150 people, according to Moe Krohn, regional asset manager with Tryko Partners, the property’s owner. “We take great pride in the positive relationship forged between our management team and Perrywood Gardens residents since we purchased this property in 2012,” he noted. “We have made great strides together, and this event recognized and celebrated that achievement.”

Faith Ramsburg, Perrywood Gardens property manager, credits much of the event’s success to the participation of Aberdeen-area organizations. “One of our goals is to make sure the residents of Perrywood are aware of all the services available to them,” she said. “We were thrilled with the local organizations’ interest in our community and participation in our event.”

Participating groups included the Harford County Sheriff’s Outreach Officers, The Susquehanna Workforce, HCDSS’ Reach Program and Harford Community College. Additionally, Helping Hands Ministries (HHM) was at the event, making crafts with children. Harford County Public Library’s “Rolling Reader” was also present. Comcast Cable provided food for the residents that participated. The event ended with the excitement of a raffle drawing. Lucky winners went home with toys, sports equipment and gift cards supplied by management.

“We had a blast at the festival,” explained Artaysha Gant, a Perrywood Gardens resident who attended with her son, Kayden. “This event surprised me in terms of the huge turnout.”

Tryko Partners, a private equity investment group based in Brick, N.J., specializes in project-based, Section 8 Homeowners Assistance Program (HAP) acquisitions and operations. Since purchasing Perrywood Gardens, the firm has implemented a series of community support programs to benefit residents at the 184-unit affordable housing rental property.

For example, Perrywood Gardens has an ongoing partnership with Churchville, Md.-based HHM, which hosts a “Good News Club” focused on children and teens ages 3 to 16. The program offers basic instruction, educational and recreational activities, meals and gifts.

“We are extremely grateful to the Perrywood Gardens staff for this enriching relationship,” said Brother Henry Pollard, HHM Good News Club coordinator. “Their sincere compassion and dedication are evident in the enthusiasm of those kids, and the enhanced sense of community.”

Additionally, Perrywood Gardens management has arranged for the Rolling Reader to now visit the property monthly, and children can select books designed to strengthen their interest and skills in literacy. The staff also launched a new 4H program at the property in December.

The celebration and these additional initiatives are in keeping with Tryko Partners’ commitment to engender a sense of community at its properties. As a truly hands-on operator, the firm assists residents in any capacity possible, and the company has had great success in working with neighborhood leaders and community organizations that help residents who need it.
