Nov. 20: Arts Council of Livingston Invites Local Students to Participate in ‘Holiday Spirit’ Painting Contest
Winning Artwork will be displayed in Store Windows at The Shoppes at The Livingston Circle

LIVINGSTON, N.J., Nov. 6, 2015 – Future Picassos are invited to put their talent to work to spread holiday cheer in the Livingston community. The Arts Council of Livingston (ACL), with support from The Fresh Market and Eastman Companies, owner and manager of The Fresh Market Shoppes at the Livingston Circle, is sponsoring a contest to create student artwork for display in select store windows at the shopping center.

The ACL is partnering with art teachers in Livingston’s elementary schools to encourage students in grades 2 through 8 to submit sketches interpreting the theme “Holiday Spirit.” Submissions will be judged on creativity and innovation, and students whose sketches are selected will be invited to paint their artwork on plexiglass panels that will be displayed at The Shoppes throughout the month of December. Eastman Companies will also post pictures of the art on The Fresh Market Shoppes at the Livingston Circle Facebook page.

The event is chaired by Irene Feigen, a past president of the ACL and director and curator of The ACL Art Gallery; and retired art teacher Hugh Mahon, president of the Council for the Arts in the Livingston Area (CALA) and an artist of the gallery.

The deadline for submitting sketches is Friday, November 20, 2015. All sketches must be on 8 ½ x 11 paper and dropped off in the labeled collection box located inside The Fresh Market at the Shoppes at the Livingston Circle, 277 Eisenhower Parkway. The painting event will take place on Saturday, December 5 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Studio Workshop Gallery, also located at The Shoppes.

The Arts Council of Livingston is a nonprofit arts coordinating group established by the Township Council to make the arts more visible in Livingston and the surrounding areas. For more information, please contact Irene Feigen at (973) 994-1516 or by email at irene1170aclgallery@gmail.com.
