Senator Chris Connors (R-Ocean), Assemblywoman Marlene Caride (D-Bergen) and Commissioner Richard E. Constable, III, N.J. Department of Community Affairs, recognized for making a difference in the multi-family housing community

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J., June 30, 2014 – The New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA) is the recognized voice for professional multi-family rental housing providers at the State House in Trenton, advocating year-round on key policy issues that impact the industry. Each year the Association recognizes public officials who have supported its efforts on behalf of members and their residents across New Jersey’s cities and towns.

The 2014 NJAA Legislative Awards honored three individuals who have made a difference in the multi-family housing community. Senator Chris Connors (R-Ocean), Ranking Member of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee, and Assemblywoman Marlene Caride (D-Bergen), Vice Chair of the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee, were named Legislators of the Year; and Commissioner Richard E. Constable, III of the N.J. Department of Community Affairs, received the NJAA Housing Champion award. The honorees were recognized during a special presentation at the NJAA’s 25th Annual Conference and Expo in Atlantic City.

“No one will ever say that New Jersey is an easy place to build, own and manage rental housing, but it’s getting better because of the efforts of our three honorees,” said Michael Haydinger, vice president of NJAA and chair of its Legislative and Political Action Committees. “We honor each of them for their ongoing support of our efforts to promote policies that will foster a strong, healthy and vibrant multi-family housing sector and make New Jersey a better place to live.”

The New Jersey Apartment Association is a non-profit trade association representing owners, managers, builders, and developers of nearly 190,000 rental homes in New Jersey as well as hundreds of suppliers to the multi-family housing industry. The NJAA is dedicated to providing safe, clean and affordable rental housing to more than a million residents throughout the state.
