May 1: ‘Pet Expo’ Coming to The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle
Event Will Raise Funds, Awareness for Local Shelters and Rescue Groups
LIVINGSTON, N.J., March 4, 2016 – Meet adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens while supporting local animal shelters and rescue groups during the second annual Livingston Pet Expo, scheduled for Sunday, May 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle, located at 277 Eisenhower Parkway in Livingston. In the event of inclement weather, the Pet Expo will be rescheduled for Sat., May 7. Admission and parking are free.

Hosted by the Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter, the theme for the afternoon event is “ADOPT-EDUCATE-RESCUE.”  Supporting this event are Eastman Companies, the shopping center’s manager and developer; Healthy Community Healthy Youth Initiative of Livingston (HCHY), the parent organization of Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter; Livingston PBA Local 263; and Livingston UNICO.

The first Livingston Pet Expo, held last fall, resulted in several pet adoptions and raised more than $1,000 for the Livingston Animal Shelter.

This year’s event will offer something for pets and people alike. Attendees can visit the Pet Photo Booth, where for a $5 donation they can have their pet’s photo taken and entered into the “Cutest Pet” contest on The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle’s Facebook page. Food items from local restaurants will be available for purchase and there will be entertainment, 50/50 raffles and a silent auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Livingston Animal Shelter.

Area animal shelters and rescue groups are expected to participate, including Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter, Eleventh Hour Rescue, Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary,  Seeing Eye Puppy Club of Essex County, Greyhound Friends of NJ, ESP Pets, Cans for Cats, Animal Protection League, and many others. Local community groups will also be on hand to provide education and raise awareness.

The Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter is a committee formed by local residents working together to help improve the conditions of the Livingston Animal Shelter. For more information about the Livingston Pet Expo call (973) 885-9796 or e-mail
