Kimmerle Newman Architects (KNA). With more than three decades of experience in the planning and execution of a broad range of private, corporate, medical and institutional facilities, KNAs projects include office buildings, multi-use corporate campuses and town centers, hospitals and medical centers, schools, and single/multi-family homes. KNA is known for its expertise in the leasing process, providing a level of added sophistication to real estate transactions that advances clients’ interests and focuses on turnkey financial packages for these transactions. KNA has designed modern work environments for some of the largest companies in the world. It also is   actively involved in historic preservation projects and is one of only a handful of firms statewide to earn the designation of preservation architect by the New Jersey Department of Building and Construction.

Kimmerle Workspace. The firm’s procurement division provides furniture and equipment to the Kimmerle Group family of corporate clients. As an integral part of Kimmerle Group’s turnkey platform, Kimmerle Workspace works alongside KNA, Kimmerle Branding and Kimmerle Project Management to ensure that client needs and the project vision are incorporated at every level through furniture and fixtures. Workspace’s unique model provides competitive solicitation services involving manufacturer-direct pricing, resulting in discounted products from the largest furniture manufacturers. In the last five years, Workspace has delivered nearly $20 million dollars in product representing over 25 percent (or $5 million) in savings to the firm’s clients relative to traditional purchasing formats.

Kimmerle Project Management. The Project Management group provides a full menu of owners’ representation and project management services in tandem with Kimmerle’s architecture and real estate development engagements. This valuable service saves clients the stress, strain and staff associated with managing and monitoring the planning, design and construction processes, allowing a property owner to maintain focus on their day-to-day responsibilities and a building’s daily operations.

Kimmerle Urban Studio Inc. Providing urban design, site planning and architectural services with an urban focus, Kimmerle Urban Studio Inc. employs a research-based approach to planning and urban design that is informed by ongoing research and teaching combined with insight drawn from 30 years of practice. Kimmerle implements theory through an expanded platform of planning and master planning services for universities, institutions, communities, community organizations and municipalities. The firm’s understanding of New York zoning regulations is deep, and provides insight unavailable to its competitors in the urban design and planning field.

Kimmerle Branding. An integrator of corporate branding themes into architectural and interior design expression, Kimmerle’s Branding studio assists corporations, small businesses and institutions in creating an environment that is an organic extension of their branded images. Examples of brand identity work includes graphic and video tools that convey an organization’s mission and objectives to prospects; 3D imagery and renderings; and branded interiors including signage, color schemes, fixtures and furnishing that align with a client’s corporate identity.

Kimmerle Group Real Estate Services (KGRE). KGRE is active in select submarkets throughout the tri-state region. The firm provides overall management control and strategic thinking in the recasting of real estate leases and holdings for its investment affiliates and joint venture partners. Millennium Office Solutions serves the needs of corporations, institutions, organizations, nonprofits and governments to complete their environments with seamless support from project commencement to completion.

MedDev is a development and consulting firm exclusively dedicated to the healthcare industry, specializing in the “design, finance and build” of facilities for our healthcare clients. Kimmerle Urban Studio Inc.’s efforts often are provided in tandem with MedDev, whose expertise is focused on the broader finances of healthcare institutions.  MedDev’s latest proof of concept is a 210,000-square-foot ambulatory care center built on campus and as a fully funded off balance sheet turnkey facility for a major medical center in Brooklyn, N.Y. This transaction was fully formed and administered by MedDev.

Community Involvement

Kimmerle Group and its team are committed to improving the communities in which they live and work. Since its inception, KNA has provided architectural and planning services, largely on a pro bono basis, to a number of New Jersey-based charitable organizations, and non-profit agencies and institutions. Services have included master planning, design and completion of food pantries, visitor’s centers, teen centers, recreational improvements at parks and new buildings, among other assignments.

George J. Kimmerle, AIA, PP, NCARB
President/Partner

As founder and president of Kimmerle Group, Kimmerle has more than 40 years of diverse industry experience. A registered architect and professional planner, Kimmerle earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Washington University School of Architecture, his master’s degree in architecture from the University of Michigan School of Architecture. He has continued his academic affiliations as an adjunct at both NYU’s Schack Institute of Real Estate and Rutgers University’s Edward J. Bloustein School of Urban Planning and Public Policy. At the latter, he is completing his PhD, focusing his dissertation on urban redevelopment practice and policy, with a special concentration on community building, branding and institutional realignment for economic development. Kimmerle is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Urban Land Institute, Morris County Chamber of Commerce, and Society for College and University Planning.
Paul S. Newman, AIA, CID
Vice-President/Partner

From the inception of the firm, Newman has led the KNA team in all aspects of architectural and interior planning assignments, and has been pivotal in establishing the firm’s reputation as a full-service sole source for clients’ needs. A registered architect and certified interior designer, he has extensive experience in corporate office, interior planning and medical work. He also has implemented a number of green and LEED-certified projects. Newman is a graduate of NJIT with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, and has taught at NYU Schack Real Estate Institute and at the BOMA/BOMI Institute. He is a member of the AIA, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, New Jersey Superior Officers Association and the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and has pursued continuing education courses at Harvard University.

William J. Kimmerle, RA
Senior Associate/Senior Project Manager

Kimmerle has been with Kimmerle Group for more than a decade in varying capacities ranging from senior designer to senior project manager. He earned his master’s degree in architecture as a graduate fellow at the Rhode Island School of Design with traveling studios in India and Turkey, and assistantships in historic property analysis and non-profit organization operations. Within Kimmerle Group, he contributes a leading voice to the firm’s development, corporate and institutional practices; leads the firm’s New York City Urban Studio Inc. offering; and has led the expansion of the firm’s procurement practice, Workspace, since 2011. He earned a bachelor’s degree in international studies with a minor in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis.

Patrick J. Luzzi
Managing Director and Senior Associate

Luzzi joined Kimmerle Group after his recent tenure as broker of record and director of operations for CBRE’s Northern New Jersey office. He is a practiced real estate professional who assists the firm as general manager and leader of strategic real estate assignments for its corporate and health clients. Luzzi is a graduate of Montclair State University (MSU) with a bachelor’s degree in political science. While at MSU, he lead the school’s Division III nationally ranked football program.

“Cindy” Cui, AIA,
LEED AP Senior Associate/Senior Project Manager

Cui is a LEED-accredited professional who specializes in new construction, major renovations and has led the firm in finishing several LEED buildings. Her unique work experience spans planning, architectural, urban design and interior design disciplines. She has worked in Europe, Asia and the United States ranging from large hospital campus planning, small town redevelopment planning, office building design and construction management to high rise mixed-use office towers. Cui is a graduate of the HeBei Institute of Technology in mainland China with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, and Kent State University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture. She has pursued her continuing education studies at Harvard University’s GSD.

Meghan Barlotta
Senior Director of Workspace

With more than 15 years of project management experience, Barlotta plays a lead role in Workspace’s solicitation, purchasing and project management services. Her involvement has included overseeing all aspects required to achieve project goals and deliver successful outcomes on complex projects from inception through final close out. She earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Scranton.

Gary Schmidt
Project Manager

A registered architect and LEED-accredited professional Schmidt focuses on custom projects in luxury retail, hospitality and corporate commercial interiors. He has worked in the New York metropolitan area since the 1990s and has experience with projects in many locations across the United States. Schmidt has served as an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Syracuse University.

Kate Atkinson
Executive Admin/Marketing Assistant

Atkinson joined Kimmerle Group in February 2016 and is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and marketing functions. Possessing diverse real estate and interior design experience, she previously was a project manager at a full-service, upscale interior design firm in Palm Beach, Fla. Atkinson earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design from The Art Institute of Tampa.
