Month’s Happenings to Focus on Summer Travel Planning, Hydration

LYNDHURST, N.J., July 5, 2016 – ShopRite of Lyndhurst, an Inserra Supermarkets store, is hosting a full calendar of healthy events throughout the month of July including those focused on summer travel planning and hydration. The store’s registered dietitian, Julie Harrington, R.D., will lead each of the LiveRight offerings and provide easy-to-implement advice. All programs are free, open to the public, held at ShopRite of Lyndhurst and do not require advance registration, unless otherwise noted:

Thurs., July 7, 14, 21 and 28 – Julie’s Walking Club, 8 a.m. Join Julie, ShopRite’s in-store registered dietitian, for a one-mile walk inside the store. Participants should meet at the Dietitian’s Corner. Membership cards and prizes will be awarded to participants.

Thurs., July 7 – Rethink your Drink, 1 to 3 p.m. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner to learn about some tasty ways to stay healthy and hydrated.  Refreshing beverages, including Coco Libre Protein Coconut Water and Evolution Fresh, will be sampled.

Sun., July 10 – Meal of the Week Sampling, 1 to 3 p.m. Don’t know what to make for dinner?  Visit the Dietitian’s Corner to pick up a recipe card and all the ingredients needed to make a complete meal. Recipes change weekly so stop by often!

Tues., July 12 – Fitness Focus (location TBD), 5 to 6 p.m. Inserra Wellness Team’s summer intern TJ Alvarez, who also is a personal trainer, will host an active fitness-focused presentation with Julie, ShopRite’s registered in-store dietitian. The presentation will focus on various forms of exercise and healthy eating. Advanced registration with Julie is required.

Sat., July 16 – Probiotic Power, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner and sip on gut-health-boosting KeVita kombucha drink and learn about the health benefits of probiotics.

Sun., July 17 – Free LiveRight with ShopRite Kid’s Day Cooking Class, 12 p.m. (session 1) and 2 p.m. (session 2). Space is limited and advanced registration with the store’s in-house dietitian is required. Bring your children to ShopRite of Lyndhurst for a fun, healthy cooking class that encourages kids to try new foods while enjoying a fun, hands-on cooking experience. Two sessions are being offered to accommodate demand.

Mon., July 18 – Around the World: China cooking class, 1 p.m. Space is limited and advanced registration is required through customer service with a $5 deposit. Deposit will be returned in the form of a $5 ShopRite gift card after class. For 2016 we are traveling around the world to learn to cook different cuisines. On this  stop: China!

Thurs., July 21 – Simple Summer Meals cooking class, 1 p.m.  Space is limited and advanced registration is required through customer service with a $5 deposit. Deposit will be returned in the form of a $5 ShopRite gift card after class. Cool down this summer with simple, no-cook recipe ideas.

Fri., July 22 – Teen Cooking Class, 4 p.m. Space is limited and advanced registration is required through customer service with a $5 deposit. Deposit will be returned in the form of a $5 ShopRite gift card after class. Join Julie, ShopRite’s registered dietitian, for a hands-on cooking class that will help young chefs gain confidence in the kitchen and learn new recipes. Open to ages 13-18.

Mon., July 25 – Hackensack University Medical Center Health and Wellness Screening, 2:30 to 5 p.m. at ShopRite of Lodi. Doctors from Hackensack University Medical Center will be at ShopRite of Lodi offering free health and wellness screenings, along with valuable health information.

Tues., July 26 to Thurs., July 28 – Summer Kids Culinary Camp, 4 to 6 p.m. Pre-registration at the customer service desk is required and the cost is $50 per participant due at the time of registration. Open to youngsters ages 6 to 12. Please indicate any food allergies at the time of registration.
