Family-Owned ShopRite Chain is Longtime Supporter of Hospital’s Programming

MAHWAH/HACKENSACK, N.J., May 12, 2017 – Inserra Supermarkets and PepsiCo recently raised $40,000 for the Tackle Kids Cancer initiative of the Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center Children’s Cancer Institute. Tackle Kids Cancer utilizes 100 percent of the funds donated for clinical trials aimed at finding a cure for pediatric cancer and the hospital’s innovative pediatric patient care programs.

“This hospital has some of the best medical minds in the world working to put an end to pediatric cancer,” Lawrence Inserra, Jr., chairman and CEO of Inserra Supermarkets, and the chairman of the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees. “At Inserra Supermarkets, we are proud to partner with PepsiCo in supporting Tackle Kids Cancer’s critical efforts in both medical research and patient care.”

For the past two years, Inserra Supermarkets and PepsiCo have joined forces with their Case Palette Program to help Tackle Kids Cancer. During the fundraising campaign, PepsiCo donates a percentage of each case of AquaFina water sold at one of Inserra Supermarkets’ ShopRite stores, and the family-owned grocery store chain donates the profits. Since the inception of the Case Palette Program, more than $60,000 has been raised.

Tackle Kids Cancer is a partnership of dedicated clinicians and researchers, corporate sponsors like Inserra Supermarkets and PepsiCo, and supporters working together to advance medical research and provide children with the highest level of care. To date, Tackle Kids Cancer has raised $4.5+ million from more than 6,500 supporters.

Siranoush Dervogormiyaciyan, director of sales Wakefern at PepsiCo, was on hand to present the check with Inserra Supermarkets and added, “Aquafina and PepsiCo is proud to partner with Inserra Supermarkets to support such an important cause of Tackling Kids Cancer.”

“We are grateful for the support and partnership of Inserra Supermarkets and Pepsico,” said Stephen Percy, M.D., interim chair of the Department of Pediatrics, Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center. “Their extraordinary fund-raising efforts help us in our fight to eradicate pediatric cancer and also increases community awareness about the importance of much needed research.”
