MAHWAH/HACKENSACK, N.J., June 15, 2017 – Sometimes ice cream may be just what the doctor ordered! On a recent Friday afternoon, Inserra Supermarkets hosted one of its “Ice Cream Socials” for the patients of the Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center Children’s Cancer Institute. During the socials, members of the Inserra family along with senior leadership of Inserra Supermarkets work with the medical center team to create and deliver made-to-order ice cream sundaes to patients and visiting family.

“The doctors and nurses here provide truly top-notch medical care to families, including my own, and we are a proud supporter of the hospital and its innovative research,” said Lawrence Inserra, Jr., chairman and CEO of the family-owned ShopRite chain. “We also know that kids just need to be kids some days, especially when they are going through a difficult time like this. That’s where the ice cream comes in. Our hope with our “Ice Cream Socials” is to brighten their day – if only for a short time and bring a smile to the faces of the children.”
