First Annual Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter Pet Expo a Success
Event Held at The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle Raises Funds, Awareness for Local Shelters and Rescue Groups

LIVINGSTON, N.J. – Nov. 5, 2015 – Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter recently held its first annual Livingston Pet Expo at The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle in Livingston, N.J.  Supporting the family- and pet-friendly event were Eastman Companies, the shopping center’s manager and developer; Healthy Community Healthy Youth Initiative of Livingston (HCHY), the parent organization of Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter; and Camuso Decorations.

The theme for the afternoon event – which resulted in several pet adoptions and raised over $1,000 for the Livingston Animal Shelter – was “ADOPT – EDUCATE – RESCUE.” Those in attendance had the opportunity to adopt cats and dogs from participating shelters and rescue groups; enter their four-legged friends in a “Cutest Pet” photo contest to win a shopping spree at Choice Pet Supply; and get a peek at the Camuso elves working inside Santa’s workshop. Local restaurants, including Ike’s Bagel Café and Olive Garden, donated food for purchase to help raise funds.

Pictured here (L to R) are volunteers from The Seeing Eye Puppy Club of Essex County who demonstrated the skills of their puppies; and several cats available for adoption from Purrfect Pals in East Hanover.

Additional shelters and rescue groups who participated included Eleventh Hour Rescue, Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary, Newark Associated Humane Society, Therapy Dogs International, Montclair Township Animal Shelter, The Livingston Animal Hospital and Greyhound Friends of NJ. Numerous community groups and organizations also were on hand and food donations were collected for Stuff the Bus Livingston C.H.O.W. (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse).
