TEANECK, N.J., March 8, 2010 - Heritage Pointe of Teaneck, a full-service rental retirement community, will host a free seminar on "Fall Prevention" on Thursday, March 25 from 3 to 4 p.m. The lecture will be presented by Olga Vakhutinsky, R.N., clinical manager of Loving Care Agency in Hackensack. The program is free and open to the public.
Vakhutinsky will discuss how certain medications can increase a person's risk for falls and how to create a safer home environment; point out symptoms that should be reported to the doctor; and share tips on ways to increase strength and balance. She will demonstrate some simple exercises and review important fall prevention facts to help older adults live more safely in their homes. Heritage Pointe recently formed an alliance with Loving Care Agency to provide in-home assistance services to residents when needed.
