Public is Invited to Career Expo, Home & Garden Show and Kids Events Among the Months Family-Friendly Programs

POTTSVILLE, Pa., March 3, 2010 - Fairlane Village Mall hosts fun activities for the whole family throughout April, with vendor exhibits, quilts and model trains on display, and programs just for kids. All events are free and open to the public.
- Mon., March 22 to Sat., April 3 - Children ages 12 and under are invited to join Fairlane Village Mall's Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Easter Egg Hunt forms are available at the Easter Set or the Mall Office. Kids will look for eggs hidden throughout the mall and enter to win one of several gift baskets stuffed with prizes and candy, courtesy of participating mall merchants.
- Thurs., April 8 - The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce invites area residents to "discover the treasures of Schuylkill County" during its 2010 Career Fair & Business Expo from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event, which is co-sponsored by T-102, will showcase exhibitors from the Chamber of Commerce who will be located throughout the Mall. - Fri., April 9 to Sat., April 10 - The beauty of handmade quilts will be on display during the Schuylkill County Quilter's Guild Annual Quilt Show. The show will take place in the space next to Radio Shack. This year's theme is "Star Spangled Quilt Show" and shows offa selection of patriotic quilts created by Guild members. These local artisans have also been donating patriotic-themed quilts to returning wounded soldiers. Attendees may also view a wall display of present and past Guild members whose family members served in the military.
- Thurs., April 15 - Members of the Little Villagers Club will join "Porcupine Pat" of the Schuylkill Conservation District for "Wise in Wildlife," starting at 6 p.m. Porcupine Pat will lead a hands-on discussion on folklore and facts about local wildlife such as skunk, deer, turtles, and more. Kids will make their own paw print book mark from recycled materials and learn about how some local wildlife survive in their habitats.This program, which will be held in the space next to Radio Shack, is open exclusively to Little Villagers Club members. Children age 12 and under can become members by signing up in the Mall Office.
- Thurs., April 15 to Sun., April 18 - Shoppers can learn about the history of the Reading Railroad at an interactive model train display hosted by The Reading Company Technical and Historical Society. The model trains, which shoppers will be able to run themselves, will feature authentic sounds and intricate details that bring the wonder of railroading to life.
- Sat., April 17 - Celebrate the Girl Scouts during the Girl Scout Mall Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local Girl Scout troops will set up displays throughout the mall to share their activities with area residents. The program is sponsored by Schuylkill Sisters in Scouting, an organization that promotes and supports the Girl Scouts.
- Fri., April 23 to Sun., April 25 - See the latest trends and products for the home, inside and out, at the Home & Garden Show hosted by Kirby vacuum cleaners. Vendors are currently being accepted to exhibit; those businesses interested in participating should contact Ken Ednie at (570) 459-2873.
