Public is Invited to Enjoy Easter Bunny Photos and Holiday Show, Contribute to Blood Drive and Cheer Derby Races

POTTSVILLE, Pa., Feb. 1, 2010 - Fairlane Village Mall, "Where Schuylkill County Shops for Value," will present a full menu of family-friendly events and community outreach throughout March that support local organizations and showcase what some busy children in the Pottsville area are doing.
- Sat., March 20 - It's a busy day at Fairlane Village Mall with the arrival of the Easter Bunny, a puppet show and live theatre. The festivities begin at 11 a.m. with the Peter Rabbit Puppet Show in center court. The Easter Bunny arrives at the end of the show and will be available for photos and visits at his house in center court until 8 p.m. Digital photo packages with the Bunny will be available for a nominal fee; families will receive a free coloring book and crayons with every photo package purchase. At 1 p.m., mall visitors are invited to see excerpts from the Strawberry Playhouse's upcoming showing of "Oklahoma" presented by the Showbiz Kids of the Strawberry Playhouse.
- Sat., March 20 - More fun will be had throughout the day during the Cub Scout Pine Wood Derby in front of Boscov's.Shoppers are invited to view the imaginative derby car creations designed by Schuylkill County Cub Scout packs and watch them compete to win trophies and medals. The Derby will run for several hours until the last car makes its way down the indoor track. Registration for the derby begins at 9 a.m. for Cub Scouts ages 7 to 11. Over 150 Scouts are expected to compete in the Derby, which is great fun for young and old alike. For more information call Ron Mallicone at (484) 955-7904.
- Sat., March 20 - The Pottsville area community is also encouraged to support an American Red Cross Blood Drive that day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The blood drive will be held in the space next to Radio Shack. This safe and easy process takes approximately 45 minutes. Potential donors must be age 16 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health to participate. Blood donors of all types are encouraged to donate and help maintain critical blood bank supplies. To make a donation appointment please call (800) GIVE-LIFE.
- Mon., March 22 to Sat., April 3 - Children ages 12 and under are invited to join Fairlane Village Mall's Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Easter Egg Hunt forms are available at the Easter Set or the Mall Office. Kids will look for eggs hidden throughout the mall and enter to win one of several gift baskets stuffed with prizes and candy, courtesy of participating mall merchants.
- Wed., March 31 - The Easter Bunny will be available for Pet Photos from 5 to 8 p.m.Digital photo packages with the Bunny will be available for a nominal fee. This fun event is open to household pets of all area residents. All animals must remain leashed or in a cage while in the mall.Please note that no exotic animals are allowed. Owners will be responsible for cleaning up after their pets in case of accidents.
