Core Practice Areas
Insurance Coverage - CMK attorneys possess extensive insurance coverage experience. The firm has represented a number of the world's largest insurance companies, litigating hundreds of insurance coverage disputes in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels as well as in arbitration and mediation proceedings.
Construction and Surety - CMK represents architects, engineers, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, sureties, public entities and private owners during all phases of construction projects. Project experience ranges from single-family homes to multi-million dollar public infrastructure projects.
Insurance Defense - CMK is often appointed defense counsel for insurance companies. The firm's vast defense counsel experience brings with it a familiarity with the courts, judges, adversaries, experts, and juries particular to the many locations in which the attorneys practice.
Commercial Disputes and Business Counseling - The firm brings a broad base of experience to the table, whether to negotiate the settlement of a dispute prior to litigation or to pursue a resolution in the courts. CMK attorneys have significant experience in disputes involving breach of contract issues, real estate and business transactions, landlord/tenant issues, products liability, patent infringement and bankruptcy.
Employment - CMK assists employers in properly structuring and documenting the employer/employee relationship in order to avoid or minimize the impact of lawsuits. The firm also counsels clients in regard to wrongful discharge, breach of contract, restrictive covenants, discrimination, sexual harassment and whistleblowers as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act.
Admiralty, Maritime, Transportation, and International Trade - CMK handles matters relating to all aspects of marine, motor truck, rail and air cargo transportation and international trade regulation and commercial relations. CMK attorneys have years of both industry and legal experience in providing advice, representation and litigation on behalf of companies engaged in transportation and trade, giving the firm a keen understanding of their clients' businesses.
Leadership
Christopher Carroll, Founding Member, concentrates his practice on resolving insurance coverage disputes through litigation or alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. His vast experience includes cases involving environmental, toxic tort, asbestos, construction, advertising liability, products liability, property, automobile, and employment issues. In 1988, Mr. Carroll graduated magna cum laude from St. Joseph's College and received his J.D. with honors from St. John's University School of Law in 1991. He earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Joseph McNulty, Founding Member, possesses 24 years of litigation experience in the areas of fidelity and surety bond, construction defect, estate disputes, insurance defense, personal injury and general complex commercial disputes. During that time, he has represented small and large corporations as well as proprietorships and partnerships. In 1981, Mr. McNulty graduated from Lafayette College with a B.A. and received his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1984. He earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Gary Kull, Founding and Managing Member, has extensive experience in the areas of insurance coverage, employment law and commercial disputes. Mr. Kull has represented insurance companies with respect to claims under commercial general liability, first-party, homeowners, professional liability, directors and officers, environmental liability, builder's risk and wrap-up as well as other types of insurance policies. In addition, he has significant experience representing corporate and individual clients in commercial disputes. In 1983, Mr. Kull obtained his B.A. from Lehigh University and graduated with honors from the University of Baltimore School of Law with his J.D. in 1987. He was named one of 2008's "Best Lawyers in America," which is based on peer review. ###
