Sanford Herrick, Managing Director and founding member, is responsible for raising capital, maintaining and developing relationships with investors, and overseeing Hudson's asset management. Prior to the formation of Hudson, Mr. Herrick was a co-founder and principal of SWH Funding Corp., as well as co-founder and principal of Realty Holdings of America, a real estate advisory firm engaged in asset management and the purchase of corporate sale/leaseback transactions. With more than two decades of experience, he also served as Senior Vice President at Integrated Resources, Inc. and as Vice President and Regional Manager at Citibank. Mr. Herrick, who received a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University and a B.A. degree from Michigan State University, has originated, structured and managed over $5 billion of assets.David Loo, Managing Director and founding member, focuses on transactions, business relations and operations, ensuring the origination of profitable business and strong partner relationships. Mr. Loo, an industry veteran, was a co-founder of Newbridge Realty Capital, one of Hudson's predecessor companies. He was also a Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) where he co-established the Portfolio Bids Group, which acquired and managed over $3 billion of real estate assets. Previously, he served as CSFB's primary commercial mortgage whole loan trader and was an original member of the Praedium Recovery Funds/CSFB. He received his M.B.A. degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. degree from Wesleyan University.
Richard Ortiz, Managing Director and founding member, concentrates on real estate valuation and acquisition analysis, business relations and portfolio management. Together with David Loo, he founded Newbridge Realty Capital and, as a Director at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), co-formed the Portfolio Bids Group, which acquired and managed over $3 billion of real estate assets. Before joining CSFB, Mr. Ortiz was a Vice President at Kidder, Peabody & Co. and a Senior Consultant for Kenneth Leventhal & Co. He received his M.B.A. degree from the Stern School of Business at New York University and his B.S. degree from the University of Connecticut.
Michael Arman, Managing Director & Chief Financial Officer and founding member, is responsible for financial operations and oversight at Hudson. Prior to establishing the firm, he also was a founding member of Newbridge Realty Capital; served as a Vice President at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB); and as a member of CSFB's Portfolio Bids Group. In addition, he served as Portfolio Financial Manager for the J. E. Robert Companies and Operational Manager for a regional residential Re/Max broker. He began his career with Deloitte & Touche as a Staff Accountant. Mr. Arman received his M.B.A. degree from the University of Connecticut and his B.B.A. degree from Iona College. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA.
Spencer Garfield, Managing Director, joined Hudson at its inception, overseeing all new loan originations, business development and business relation activities. Mr. Garfield has been instrumental in spearheading the company's rise and dominance within the middle-market, opportunistic real estate investment arena and has been directly responsible for closing originations in excess of $3.5 billion during his tenure. Prior to joining Hudson, he held the titles of Managing Director and President at a high-yield debt platform and a boutique investment banking firm, respectively. He received his Master's Degree in Real Estate Investment and Finance from New York University and his B.S. degree from the University of Colorado.
Renee Lewis, Managing Director, has been associated with Hudson Realty Capital LLC since its inception in 2002 and joined the firm as a principal in March 2006. Ms. Lewis spearheads the Asset Management Department where she is responsible for strategy and execution oversight on all of Hudson's debt and equity positions. Prior to joining Hudson, Ms. Lewis was the founder and president of Questor, where she spearheaded due diligence and underwriting services for more than $30 billion in non-performing and performing real estate loans involving thousands of individual properties and real estate portfolios on behalf of institutional investors. In addition, Questor provided adjunct asset management services for FDIC loan contracts as well as real estate consulting services to HUD, GSA and the U.S. Army. Prior to forming Questor, Ms. Lewis was a Marketing Manager for Fleet Financial's RECOLL division. She received her B.A. degree from Duke University.
