Live Shakespeare Performance, Art Presentation Highlight August Happenings at Senior Living Campus

ALLENDALE, N.J., Aug. 4, 2014 – A live performance of one of William Shakespeare’s most popular comedies and a slide presentation featuring works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art highlight two days of world-class cultural programming at The Atrium at The Allendale Community for Senior Living. Both events are free and open to the public.

On Friday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m., The Next Stage Ensemble of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” sponsored by the Brusco Family Foundation and The Lee Memorial Library. When starry-eyed young lovers and zany would-be actors cross paths in a magical forest, the result is one of the world’s most uproarious comedies. This live production is a thrilling performance designed to appeal to Shakespeare lovers of all ages.

The Allendale Community’s enriching programming continues on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. when Dr. Michael B. Norris will present “Eternal Spring,” a slide program of ancient and present-day garden art from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its branch museum, The Cloisters. Dr. Norris, a retired educator from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, has been a lecturer for more than 20 years, and specializes in classical and medieval art.

“Eternal Spring” is presented by The Stella Dukes Memorial Fund for the Arts. The Fund was established in honor of Stella Dukes, a former Atrium resident, and supports a full calendar of enriching art, theater, dance and musical performances at The Allendale Community. This hour-long program will allow attendees to view ancient and present-day gardens and show interesting art that is accessible to where they live.

The Allendale Community for Senior Living is located at 85 Harreton Road in Allendale (GPS: 65 Route 17 South, Ramsey). Developed in stages beginning in 1967, The Allendale Community pioneered modern-day eldercare. For more information, call (201) 825-0660 or visit
